Rockstar's $399.99 GTA 6 Collector's Box Has No Game in It

Rockstar has put a premium physical GTA 6 product on sale, and it is not an edition of the game. Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection is a box of 11 collectibles priced at $399.99, shipping from November 19, 2026. Grand Theft Auto VI is sold separately: there is no disc and no download code inside.
Pre-orders opened on the Rockstar Store on September 24, 2026. This report is backfill — the listing went live a week ago and we did not cover it at the time. The details below were checked against Rockstar’s own store page today.
What is in the box
The collection is themed around Macca the Gator, a fictional television show from the game’s world, and around the Leonida Keys.
| Item | Detail from Rockstar’s listing |
|---|---|
| Macca the Gator figure | Twist-open, with a storage compartment in the base |
| Oakley Frogskins sunglasses | Matte black, Prizm Sapphire lenses |
| Leonida Keys crossbody bag | Ripstop, custom zipper |
| New Era 9FORTY snapback | Vice City embroidery |
| Macca the Gator magnetic mirror | Pink electroplated glass |
| Chunkee the Manatee shot glass | Laser-etched logo |
| Vice City swizzle spoon | Enamel logo detail |
| Vice City razor blade keychain | Metal, embossed logos |
| Leonida Keys enamel pin set | Nine pins in a metal tin |
| Leonida Keys sticker pack | Nine vinyl stickers in a stash bag |
| Double-sided souvenir poster | Character art on one side, a map of Leonida on the other |
The tone is deliberate. A spoon, a razor blade keychain, a mirror and a figure with a hidden compartment are a 1980s Vice City joke told through merchandise, and Rockstar’s own copy leans into it.
The part that matters: no game
Every outlet that covered the listing led with the same fact, and Kotaku’s headline put it most bluntly. At $399.99 this costs four times the Ultimate Edition and five times the Standard Edition, and it contains neither.
| Product | US price | Includes GTA 6? |
|---|---|---|
| Standard Edition | $79.99 | Yes |
| Ultimate Edition | $99.99 | Yes, plus in-game extras |
| Goodtime State – Vice City Collection | $399.99 | No — sold separately |
Anyone who wants the box and the game is making two purchases, potentially from two storefronts. The editions guide covers the game side; nothing about the collection changes what Standard and Ultimate contain, and it adds no in-game items.
That structure follows from a decision Rockstar had already made. With no disc at launch, a traditional collector’s edition would have been a box of objects wrapped around a download code. Rockstar has simply left the code out and sold the objects on their own.
Does this count as a collector’s edition?
It depends what the question meant. Our collector’s edition page has asked since June whether Rockstar would sell a premium physical package for GTA 6. It now does, so that page moves to confirmed — with the qualifier stated in its first line. There is still no collector’s edition of the game: no third tier above Ultimate, no steelbook, no bundle that includes a copy.
The distinction is not pedantry. Retailer placeholder listings for a “GTA 6 Collector’s Edition” with a game inside have circulated for months, and this announcement does not validate any of them.
Availability and the small print
Reports describe the collection as a limited item sold while supplies last, with shipping charged on top and no free-shipping eligibility. Rockstar has published no production number, so “limited” is a description rather than a stated cap.
It is also region-restricted. The store page returns a not-available-in-your-region notice outside its supported markets, and the listing’s own FAQ refers to regional limits. Rockstar has not published a full country list in the material we could read, so check the store page from your own location rather than relying on a list from elsewhere.
Where this sits in the launch run
This is the third separate pre-order attached to November 19, after the game itself and Sony’s limited-edition DualSense controllers, and it arrived a week after Rockstar announced a 34-track album for the same day. The pattern is consistent: the game’s contents are being held back, and the launch is being widened with products around it.
The poster is the one item with any informational value. A printed map of Leonida in the box means an official full-state map exists in final form, though Rockstar has not published it, and nothing about its contents is known until boxes ship.
This page will be updated if Rockstar adds regions, restocks, or announces a bundle that includes the game.
