GTA 6 Editions & Pre-Order Guide

Pre-orders for GTA 6 opened on June 25, 2026 for the November 19 launch. Here’s everything the two editions actually contain, what’s free either way, and an honest take on whether pre-ordering is worth it.
The editions at a glance
| Standard Edition | Ultimate Edition | |
|---|---|---|
| Price (US) | $79.99 | $99.99 |
| Platforms | PS5, Xbox Series X|S | PS5, Xbox Series X|S |
| The full game | ✔ | ✔ |
| Vintage Vice City Pack (through Nov 20, 2026) | ✔ | ✔ |
| Premium vehicle collection | — | ✔ |
| Exclusive apparel & personalized weapons | — | ✔ |
| Two Ultimate-only Vehicle Mod Shops | — | ✔ |
Prices outside the US follow the usual regional tiers on PlayStation Store, Xbox Store and at retail. Note that $79.99 makes GTA 6 one of the first games at the new top-tier price point — a decision Take-Two has defended by pointing at the game’s scope.
What’s actually in the Ultimate Edition
The $20 premium buys an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, a set of apparel and personalized weapons for Jason and Lucia, and — the most interesting part — two Vehicle Mod Shops that Rockstar describes as “exclusively open for business” for Ultimate owners.
The Mod Shops are the piece worth thinking about. Vehicles and outfits are cosmetics; dedicated customization venues suggest ongoing utility every time you want to work on a car. If your GTA hours historically disappear into garages and paint booths, the Ultimate Edition is priced sanely for that. If you mainline the story, the Standard Edition is the identical game.
One caveat: edition contents can be revised before launch — Rockstar has done it before. The official GTA VI site is the canonical list, and this page updates when it changes.
The Vintage Vice City Pack — free either way
Every pre-order and every copy purchased through November 20, 2026 includes the Vintage Vice City Pack:
- a 1955 Vapid Stanier, plus its own garage to keep it in
- vintage clothing and hairstyles for both protagonists
- a weapon finish styled after 1980s Vice City — a wink at the original game’s neon era
The key detail is the date: because the pack covers purchases through the day after launch, it is effectively a launch-window bonus, not a pre-order exclusive. There is no FOMO case for pre-ordering just to secure it. More on the pack.
Should you pre-order at all?
The honest breakdown:
- Digital buyers: a pre-order buys the November 12 preload and nothing else. Digital copies cannot sell out, the bonus pack is covered through November 20, and waiting for launch-day impressions costs you only the preload. Pre-order if you already know you’re playing day one; otherwise there’s no penalty for waiting.
- Physical buyers: the calculation has changed. Rockstar confirmed there is no disc — a boxed copy is a download code — so a pre-order no longer guarantees media in hand, and the box must arrive early enough to redeem and preload. Buy physical for the packaging, not for launch-day certainty.
- Ultimate Edition undecideds: you can buy Standard now and upgrade later if Rockstar offers an upgrade path — though no upgrade pricing has been announced, so the safe assumption is picking your edition once.
The preload date is confirmed: November 12, 2026 at local midnight, a full week before launch.

What do you get for pre-ordering GTA 6?
Every pre-order — and every copy purchased through November 20, 2026 — includes the free Vintage Vice City Pack: a 1955 Vapid Stanier with its own garage, vintage clothing and hairstyles, and a weapon finish styled after 1980s Vice City.
Is the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition worth it?

Is there a GTA 6 collector's edition?
As of July 2026, Rockstar has announced only the Standard and Ultimate digital/retail editions. No physical collector's edition has been announced.
