Will GTA 6 have difficulty and accessibility options?
Rockstar has not detailed GTA 6 difficulty or accessibility options. Subtitles and aiming assists have series precedent, but remapping, visual aids, and mission settings remain unknown.
Rumored — Rockstar has not published the options. As of July 21, 2026, no official GTA 6 settings list explains difficulty selection, accessibility presets, control remapping, subtitle presentation, visual aids, audio assistance, or ways to simplify individual gameplay actions.
Some basic options are reasonable to expect from a modern Rockstar release, but accessibility is too important to infer from precedent alone. Players deciding whether they can use the game need exact, verified settings rather than a promise that it will probably resemble GTA V.
Difficulty is not one simple setting
Recent mainline Rockstar games generally do not begin with a traditional easy, normal, or hard campaign selector. Instead, GTA V uses systems such as aim assistance and offers mission-skipping support after repeated failures. Red Dead Redemption 2 likewise relies on mission design, aiming settings, supplies, and contextual assistance rather than a universal difficulty menu for its story.
GTA 6 could follow that structure, introduce conventional difficulty levels, or allow separate adjustment of different systems. Rockstar has not said. We do not know whether driving, combat, police response, mission timing, damage, or resource management can be tuned independently.
| Option area | Rockstar precedent | GTA 6 status |
|---|---|---|
| Aim assistance | Available in GTA V and RDR2 | Not detailed |
| Subtitles | Available in recent Rockstar games | Not detailed |
| Mission skip after failures | Used in GTA V and RDR2 | Unknown |
| Full control remapping | Varies by platform and release | Unknown |
| Separate difficulty modes | Not the usual recent campaign model | Not announced |
Accessibility questions still unanswered
Players need specifics across several categories. For vision, that can include scalable text, high-contrast UI, color filters, navigation cues, and reduced visual effects. For hearing, it can include speaker labels, sound-direction indicators, complete captions, and independent volume controls. Motor accessibility can involve remapping, hold-versus-toggle choices, reduced rapid inputs, camera assistance, and driving aids.
Cognitive accessibility may include clearer objectives, adjustable timing, tutorials, route guidance, and the ability to repeat instructions. Motion-sensitive players may need camera-shake, blur, head-bob, and field-of-view controls. None of these individual features has been officially listed for GTA 6.
Frame rate and accessibility can overlap for some players, but Rockstar has not announced performance targets either. The 60fps performance-mode page tracks that separate question without presenting it as settled.
Why trailers cannot answer this
Trailer 2 can show how the game looks, but it does not expose the settings menu or demonstrate alternative interface presentations. Subtitles added to a published video are not proof of in-game subtitle controls. Likewise, platform-level features do not guarantee that GTA 6’s own menus support a particular adjustment.
Pre-release store listings and edition descriptions are also insufficient unless they name the feature directly. The Standard and Ultimate editions have announced prices and contents, but those commercial differences do not tell us about accessibility. See the editions and preorder guide for information that Rockstar has actually released.
What would provide a reliable answer
Rockstar should ideally publish a complete accessibility overview before launch, with screenshots or descriptions of each setting and any gameplay consequences. Console storefront metadata may add useful labels, while hands-on accessibility reviews can test whether options work consistently across driving, combat, missions, and free roam.
Until that material appears, do not assume that an option from GTA V, GTA Online, or RDR2 will return unchanged. The responsible status is “rumored,” even for settings that seem standard. Everything confirmed so far will remain the safer starting point for announced features.
This page will be updated when Rockstar publishes official GTA 6 difficulty and accessibility information.
