South Park Airs New GTA 6 Gameplay Supplied by Rockstar

On Wednesday, October 28, South Park aired a short clip of unreleased Grand Theft Auto VI gameplay in its Season 29 episode “Guinea Pig on a Stick.” The end credits read “Grand Theft Auto VI footage courtesy of Rockstar Games,” so this is Rockstar’s own footage, not animation made for the show. Rockstar has said nothing else about it.

This is backfill. The episode aired five days ago and we did not cover it at the time. VICE, Complex, Notebookcheck, DualShockers and SVG all reported the same episode, the same credit and the same scene the following day.

What the clip shows

The sequence runs well under half a minute. According to DualShockers, it opens on a driving shot of Jason and Lucia that also appears in the Extended Look, then cuts to a crowded Vice City beach: sunbathers, swimmers, umbrellas and loungers, with boats offshore. Notebookcheck describes “throngs of NPCs with unique body shapes” and points out the footprints left in the sand.

The scene is built around a single gag. A dog relieves itself on the sand and its owner bends down to bag the mess. Jason throws something at the man, takes the bag from him and hits him with it, and the bag bursts. Notebookcheck reports that the man is visibly agitated and that NPCs respond with dialogue when Jason makes contact.

DualShockers notes that the standard third-person camera and HUD, minimap included, are on screen. That is the clearest sign this is captured gameplay rather than a cinematic cut for television.

The narration is South Park’s, not Rockstar’s

In the episode, the footage is framed as a secret presentation of the game, with a narrator gushing over its realism. Complex quotes that narration: “It’s a dog taking a poop, and people can pick up the dog poop.” Lines like that are the show’s script, written for a joke. They are not a Rockstar feature description.

What Rockstar supplied is the footage itself. It shows one NPC routine, an owner cleaning up after a dog, and one interaction, in which Jason takes an object the NPC is holding and uses it on him. It does not show whether loose objects in general can be picked up and thrown, and it reveals no new systems, missions or story.

The versions circulating online are clips of the broadcast posted by fans. None of the coverage cites a Rockstar post of the footage on the Newswire or its social accounts.

Rockstar keeps marketing through other people’s channels

The clip fits the pattern of the last two months. Rockstar premiered the Extended Look on Netflix six hours before its own YouTube channel. It talked about satire to LOVE magazine (our report) and gave Edge a cover story full of new gameplay detail (our report). The Miami Heat will play as “Vice City” on the night before launch (details). Handing a comedy show unreleased footage instead of posting it to the Newswire comes from the same instinct: let somebody else’s audience discover the game.

South Park has done this before. Its 2006 episode “Make Love, Not Warcraft” was made with Blizzard’s cooperation, using footage captured inside World of Warcraft, and won an Emmy. The show has joked about GTA 6’s release date throughout this season, which made it a natural, if unusually crude, place for Rockstar to put new footage three weeks before launch.

What it changes on VicePulse

No rumor changes status. The clip adds a small piece of evidence to two pages:

The everything-confirmed roundup now lists the clip alongside the trailers. GTA 6 launches November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. We will update this page if Rockstar posts the footage itself or says anything about the episode.
