Will GTA 6 support VR?
No VR mode has been announced for GTA 6. The game is confirmed for PS5, including PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S, but Rockstar has not listed virtual-reality support.
Verdict: Rumored — Rockstar has not announced VR support for GTA 6.
GTA 6 releases on November 19, 2026 for PS5, including PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. No PC version has been announced. Rockstar’s public platform information does not list PlayStation VR2 or another VR format, and it has not described a first-person virtual-reality mode.
What we actually know
The confirmed console release tells us where the game will ship, but not every display or accessibility feature it will use. “PS5” does not automatically mean PS VR2 compatibility. VR support requires explicit software design, interface decisions, comfort options, rendering work, and platform labeling. None of those has been announced for GTA 6.
For the current platform list, see our GTA 6 platforms guide and everything confirmed so far. Both separate announced systems from hoped-for versions.
Series precedent
The mainline console editions of GTA IV, GTA V, and Red Dead Redemption 2 did not establish a pattern of official, full-game VR support. GTA V later gained an official first-person perspective on newer releases, but first person and VR are not interchangeable. A conventional camera can ignore motion comfort, stereoscopic rendering, head tracking, and VR-specific controls.
| Feature | Meaning | GTA 6 status |
|---|---|---|
| First-person camera | Viewpoint rendered from the character’s perspective | Not announced |
| PS VR2 support | Native compatibility with Sony’s headset | Not announced |
| PC VR support | Support for PC headsets and runtimes | No PC version announced |
| Third-party modification | Unofficial community-created functionality | Mod support not announced |
This lack of precedent does not prove VR can never happen. It does mean there is no solid basis for promising it at launch.
The case against assuming it
GTA 6 is designed around a huge open world, driving, fast camera changes, and cinematic presentation. Translating those elements into comfortable VR would involve more than enabling a headset display. Interface scale, vehicle motion, cutscenes, aiming, locomotion, and performance would all require deliberate solutions.
Technical ambition alone is not evidence that Rockstar has made those choices. PS5 Pro support also does not imply VR support, just as a console game’s visual modes do not establish compatibility with every accessory. The rumor index tracks unannounced features, including other display and performance questions.
What would confirm it
Confirmation would need a direct Rockstar announcement, an official store listing that names a supported headset, or a gameplay presentation demonstrating a native mode. A third-party experiment would not confirm official support. Nor would a hypothetical future PC release automatically bring PC VR.
Our read is that buyers should plan around a standard screen-based release unless Rockstar says otherwise. There is currently no announced headset, control scheme, release window, or VR feature set. This page will be updated when official information lands.
