Can you replay missions in GTA 6?

Mission replay is likely because GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2 support it, but Rockstar has not confirmed the feature for GTA 6 or explained checkpoints, ratings, and rewards.

Verdict: Likely. GTA 6 will probably let players replay completed story missions because that is an established feature in recent Rockstar games. Rockstar has not confirmed it, however, and no official source explains how replay, checkpoints, scoring, choices, equipment, or rewards will work.

What we actually know

Rockstar has identified Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval as protagonists and presented them at the center of a crime story. It has not announced the mission structure. We do not know how missions are selected, whether the campaign branches, how often the protagonists are playable together, or whether completion ratings return.

Without those foundations, it is impossible to describe a replay menu accurately. A chapter-select screen, phone menu, pause-menu list, save reload, and open-world activity reset are different systems. “Replay” should mean intentionally starting a completed mission again, not merely loading an earlier save. The story guide covers the narrative information Rockstar has released.

The two-protagonist structure creates another open question. A replay might lock players to the character used in the original mission, allow a choice, or restore a predetermined story state. Rockstar has not indicated which approach applies, and character switching itself should not be used as proof of replay options.

Series precedent

Recent Rockstar releases make the feature a sensible expectation.

Game Replay precedent Important limitation
GTA V Completed story missions can be replayed, with performance objectives Replay can restore a temporary mission state
Red Dead Redemption 2 Story missions can be replayed with medal goals Equipment and progression rules are game-specific
GTA Online Many jobs and missions can be launched repeatedly An online playlist is not a story replay menu

This history supports a “likely” rating, not “confirmed.” Rockstar may redesign the campaign interface, omit ratings, alter checkpoint behavior, or restrict replay for missions affected by story choices.

Why details matter

Players replay missions for different reasons: seeing dialogue again, trying another tactic, improving a score, recording footage, collecting missed items, or revisiting a favorite set piece. A system that satisfies one purpose may not satisfy another. For example, a rating mode might supply fixed equipment, while a narrative replay might preserve the player’s current loadout.

Rewards also need clarification. Earlier games can separate the replayed mission state from the main save so that money, ammunition, or world changes are not duplicated. GTA 6 could do the same, but no rule has been announced. The lack of confirmed mission structure also means rumors about replaying heists are premature.

What would confirm it

An official menu screenshot, gameplay demonstration, manual, support article, or preview could confirm mission replay. The most useful explanation would address unlock timing, checkpoint selection, medal objectives, saved choices, loadouts, collectibles, and whether replays affect campaign progress.

For now, players can reasonably expect the convenience based on Rockstar’s track record, while leaving the implementation open. See everything confirmed so far for features that have moved beyond expectation into announcement.
