How many buildings can you enter in GTA 6?
Free-roam interiors are confirmed. Convenience stores and gas stations can be entered and robbed repeatably, and nightclubs, apartments and businesses appear as playable spaces. No total count has been published.
Confirmed — interiors are open in free roam, not only in missions. The question this page has always turned on is not whether GTA 6 contains indoor spaces, but whether players can walk into them outside a scripted sequence. Rockstar’s August 27, 2026 Extended Look settles it: convenience stores and gas stations are repeatable robbery targets across Vice City, which requires them to be enterable at will.
The apartment block that opens the presentation, the nightclubs, and the gala venue used for an infiltration sequence all appear as playable interiors as well.
What repeatable robberies imply
A robbery you can perform any number of times in any store is a free-roam system, not a mission. The previews describe a trade-off inside each one — move fast and take the till, or spend longer and open the safe — with multiple ways in and out. That is a designed interior with more than one entrance, replicated across the map.
| Interior type | Free-roam access |

| Convenience stores and gas stations | Confirmed, repeatably |
| Nightclubs | Shown |
| Apartments and homes | Shown |
| Event venues | Shown in a mission context |

Why this was in doubt
GTA 5 shipped with a small number of enterable buildings relative to its skyline, and most interiors were mission-only or added later through GTA Online updates. Red Dead Redemption 2 went much further, with shops, homes and saloons open by default. Which precedent GTA 6 would follow was genuinely unclear from trailer footage, since a cutscene interior proves nothing about free roam.
The store robberies answer it, and they connect to the wider economy — money reportedly gates campaign progression, so an enterable store is an earner rather than set dressing. Entering one also engages the wanted system, where a witness or a camera determines whether police are given your description.
What is still unknown
No count of enterable buildings, no confirmation of which business types are open across the whole map versus in Vice City only, and nothing about whether interiors load seamlessly or behind a transition. Property ownership is tracked separately on the properties and businesses page.
For the rest of what the reveal established, see the Extended Look breakdown.
This page will be updated if Rockstar publishes an interior count before launch.
