Will GTA 6 run on Steam Deck?

Steam Deck support cannot be confirmed because Rockstar has not announced GTA 6 for PC. There are no official handheld requirements, performance figures, compatibility ratings, or release dates.

Verdict: Rumored — GTA 6 has no announced PC edition, making Steam Deck support unknown.

GTA 6 releases November 19, 2026 for PS5, including PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar has not announced a Windows version. Because Steam Deck runs PC software, there can be no official Deck compatibility rating, performance target, graphics preset, storage requirement, or control profile for an edition that has not been announced.

What we actually know

The current platform announcement excludes a PC release; it does not confirm that PC will never happen. It also says nothing about Steam, other PC storefronts, Linux compatibility, handheld PCs, or a potential launcher’s behavior. Any claim that GTA 6 is “Deck verified,” “playable,” or incapable of running is premature.

Our PC version rumor page covers the unannounced port separately. The platform guide lists only the systems Rockstar has named.

Rockstar’s PC release history

Rockstar has previously released major open-world games on PC after their console debuts. The intervals are historical facts, not a timetable for GTA 6.

Game Console release PC release What it tells us
GTA IV April 2008 December 2008 A later PC version happened
GTA V September 2013 April 2015 The PC wait was longer
Red Dead Redemption 2 October 2018 November 2019 PC again followed consoles
GTA 6 November 19, 2026 Not announced No PC or handheld conclusion yet

The varied gaps show why calculating a GTA 6 PC date from an average would be misleading. Rockstar must announce the product before compatibility can be assessed.

Why handheld predictions are unreliable

Steam Deck compatibility depends on much more than raw graphics power. A future PC build could have different CPU demands, memory behavior, storage needs, launcher requirements, graphics options, or compatibility-layer issues. Mod support and anti-cheat are also unannounced, and an unannounced online mode cannot be used to infer either.

Other handheld PCs may run Windows and offer different hardware, but no official GTA 6 system requirements exist for comparison. Naming a resolution, frame rate, wattage, or graphics preset would invent specifications. The rumor index tracks open technical questions without filling those gaps with estimates.

What would confirm it

The first requirement is a Rockstar PC announcement with a release date and system requirements. After that, Valve could issue a Steam Deck compatibility rating if the game is sold on Steam, and independent testing could document actual behavior on specific hardware. A video of unofficial or remote-streamed play would not prove native compatibility.

Our read is that Rockstar’s history keeps a later PC version plausible, but it provides no guarantee of Steam Deck support. Buyers should not purchase GTA 6 or handheld hardware based on assumed compatibility. This page will be updated when official information lands.
